This ensures that you get only the best when you decide to upgrade your BMW headlights. The BMW headlights are unique in that they are the right combination of style, safety and utility. The latest in the BMW headlights category are the xenon light. They discharge very high intensity beams to help the driver view everything during the night drives as in broad daylight. The earlier headlights used to be halogen based and the light from them is not as bright as the xenon headlights. These are very powerful and offer a very good view at nights. The BMW headlights based on xenon cut through the fog enabling a smooth drive in zero visibility conditions as well. If you are an adventurous person and love to go on explorations, the xenon BMW headlights are for you. They are so bright that they will guide you through unknown terrains with utmost ease. Their sharp beams makes sighting possible at quite some distance, thereby enabling you to exercise caution during night driving in unknown area. These headlights also allow others to view your car. Even if you do not own a BMW, you can use the BMW headlights for any other make or model of car. These headlights are high performing and many people opt to use them in their cars for ensuring a safe drive.

Vauxhall Corsa - The Perfect Economical & Ecological Choice

Despite the virulent protestations to convince the general public to leave their cars at home and step aboard public transport, the Government and local authorities don't exactly make it the convenient and cost-friendly solution that one would hope for. The prices on buses and trains consistently creep up and the quality and frequency of service invariably slump down. So what most of us are looking for is cost-effective transport, which is easily maintained, reliable and isn't full of litter or smells like a particularly abused dustbin. What we need is a series of cars that are suitable for city driving; great handling, good performance at low revs, economical and ecologically sound. With some research I found, with relative ease, the perfect cars to fit the bill.

Vauxhall have been manufacturing popular cars for years now, but in the emergence of more ecologically aware society, many manufacturers have come under scrutiny for their 'green' (or not) policies and products. Fortunately Vauxhall have nothing to worry about in this matter. The Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi produces class-leading low CO2 emissions and is capable of reaching around 70 miles to the gallon, which is not only kinder on your wallet, but considerably kinder on the environment.

With more and more of us learning to drive every year and with the social stigma placed on gas-guzzling cars, there is a huge scope to be mobile yet environmentally friendly. The Diesel Corsa has all the style and panache you would find desirable in a city car, yet maintains all the practicalities that we are being forced to pay more attention too.

The Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi is a popular seller in the hatchback market and a suitable vehicle for learners who may not drive the most economically, city dwellers and those who need affordable transport from day to day.

What Do You Get With a Cold Air System?

What are all these pieces when you purchase a cold air intake system. I'll bet you thought that this type of system was one large piece of hardware that was simple to install, just like the factory cleaner. Well unfortunately if you want the advantages of more power, great sound, and a good looking system, you will have to put up with various parts and do some installing of your new system. It's not hard, but you do have to follow the instructions.

Each manufacturer of an air intake system approaches their design from a different standpoint, which results in a different number of component parts that you must assemble and install for your new air system.

You may purchase an air system like the Schmidt Motor Works Ram Air Cleaner Air Intake system that has a basic box (similar looking) which replaces your air system filter. Or you might wind up with an air system that has one or more tubes, made out of plastic, steel, Kevlar, fiberglass or even carbon fiber. If there are multiple tubes, then the air system kit will also include spacer and connection parts to join the system tubes. You might also have short pieces of tubes which connect to other components of your engine.

Just as an example, if you had purchased an Injen MegaRam air system your parts would consist of: 1 - 3 1/2" Air Intake system; 1 - 3 1/2 " Injen filter; 1- Molded 60 degree elbow; 2 - Medium clamps; 1 - Mini clamp; 1 - Sensor grommet; 1 - Vibra-mount; 1 - Flange nut; 1 - Fender washer; 1 - License plate frame (to advertise your new product); and 1 - set of installation instructions.

On the other hand if you had purchased an Airaid Intake air system for a Chevrolet Silverado "Classic" HD 6.0L V-8 system, your parts list would look more like: 1 - Airaid Premium Filter; 1 Rear Air Dam Coated; 1 - MAF Panel Coated; 1 - Filter Adapter; 1 - Airaid Intake Tube; 1 - Urethane Hump Hose; 1 - GM Coupler; 1 - Weather Strip 21"; 1 - Set of Instructions; 5 - 6-32 x 5/16" Screw; 5 - #6 Flat Washer; 5 - 6-32 Keps Nut; 3 - 1/4 x 20 1/2' Button Head Bolt; 7 - Flat Washer; 4 - Mg-1x25 Hex Bolt and 2 - #60 Hose Clamp.

Wow! Lots of different parts depending upon the brand you purchase and the model of your car, so check out the instructions before you purchase one of these systems. The more parts, the longer the installation will take.

Why Improving Your Driving Skills is a Great Idea

A good number of people on the road will tell you that they're basically masters of the craft when it comes to driving. No matter the skill they actually possess, or the level of attention they maintain, they'll believe that they're the standard by which all other drivers should be based on. While it may be true that they're capable enough, dealing with everything on a daily basis while paying attention to all the basic rules of the road, it's not a good mentality for being the best driver possible.

Driving is an art that is constantly evolving. Although most people cover the fundamentals, many of the nuisances of vehicle operations and engagement are lost on these individuals as they grow in age. Some learned how to drive outside of a driving school, and these individuals are at a loss when it comes to recognizing and handling the specifics of driving at their best potential.

Even if you already know how to drive a vehicle, learning to improve your driving skills is always a great idea. Driving safely is a way of ensuring that your life, the life of your passengers, and the life of other people on the road are being respected. Due to the tremendous responsibility that driving is, there is always something to learn when it comes to this skill.

You might question this idea. You may be thinking to yourself, "But I already know how to drive, and I do it everyday - safely!" This may be true, but there are always things that can be improved. Your knowledge of facts, for example. Did you know that the average stopping distance of a car with good brakes and a good driver going 64.37 km/h is around 39 metres (128 feet)? That might seem like a meaningless abstraction, since you've grasped your car intuitively, but it's exactly the sort of crucial thing one should learn to truly master driving.

The thing about that sort of knowledge is that it comes with an understanding of how to apply it flexibly to any situation. Chances are that you haven't really experienced the true braking power of your vehicle. If you use a measurement like that one and apply it to your own dynamics, you can arrive at conclusions that go beyond your personal experience. Also, if nothing else, it'll make you more observant of the subtle but essential facts that make up daily driving.

One of the most convincing traits of going to a driving school after having learned how to drive already is the insurance benefits you may receive from it. A healthy number of people who return to obtain new driving lessons often see their premiums reduced as a result. It varies depending on your experience and your insurer, so talk with them first to find out how driving lessons can affect cost.

Four Points to Consider While Buying CD Or Car DVD Players

Driving for many people is nothing less than a hobby. There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that listening to your favorite music while driving in the rain can create an amazing impact on your senses. But, you must bear this in mind that you will never be able to get entertained in the right way if your car stereo or CD player is in bad shape.

There was a time when CD players were extremely expensive but prices have come down to some extent. But, you will still have to decide about the right type of CD player to make most of your money. Here, it is crucial to mention that there are people who now prefer installing a DVD player instead of CD player. So, you must also think about this particular point at the time of shopping for a CD player.

It doesn't matter if you are interested in buying a CD player or a DVD player, you will have to keep few things in mind. Although there are lots of things to consider at the time of buying Car CD or car DVD players but following things should never be overlooked.

* The most important thing to consider is about the memory of your player. Here, you must never buy a player without considering the type of memory it has. Try to get player with anti-shock memory. In these types of players audio data is stored in the memory buffer to output at times when main signal mistracks.

* Never buy a player without considering the antitheft mechanism available in it. There are different types of players using different anti-theft mechanisms. Some come with detachable faceplate and some come with a masking faceplate. Also, some players stop working if they are disconnected without entering a specific code. Installing a CCTV camera may also be a good thing to do in here. So, check it before buying your player.

* When buying a car CD player, you have to keep in mind that it is better to buy such a player which comes with a feature of direct access. Herein, you can easily play your favorite track just by pressing the numeric keys.

* At the time of buying a DVD player, do keep in mind that some of the players can cost you a lot. In order to get a perfect DVD player without spending a lot of money, you must opt for a simple, folding car DVD player. You just have to get a car kit to make this player work for you.

These are few of the points which will help you to make a better decision. Actually, you must remember these points as there is a huge variety of car CD players and DVD players which is enough to confuse you. These points will help in making a better choice. So, take them seriously!

Buy Car DVD Players Only After Considering Four Crucial Points

It is quite fascinating to see that now you can find a diverse range of devices and parts to make your car even more attractive and functional too. For instance, no one would have ever imagined having parking censors for their cars in past but you can now find them without much ado. These parking sensors are extremely useful in situations where you have to park your car amongst many other cars.

Though parking sensors and other such products are getting popular but you can still find people with an inclination towards car DVD players. But, when it comes to DVD players, you just can not go into the market to bring home the first DVD player you see out there. As car DVD players can cost a lot, you have to be absolutely sure about your needs and requirements otherwise you will end up wasting your money.

Although there are lots of things to take into consideration while buying car DVD players but following are few of the most significant things to remember.

1. One of the most important things to consider is about the placement of your DVD player. Without determining the place where you want to put your DVD player it will be hard to find a good player. In this regard, you have to consider your needs and requirements. For instance, if you are installing a player just for your kids, you will be better off buying roof mount screen. But, if you need player for front seat viewing, you must consider installing in-dash screen.

2. While buying a DVD player, you must also consider the screen size. You must again consider the fact as if you are buying player for multi-user viewing or not. If primary reason of buying a player is multi-user viewing, you must opt for larger screens. Generally, people go for 4 to 6 inches of screen but it is better to go for at least 7 inch screen for multi-user viewing.

3. You must also consider the quality of a player. In fact, it is better to compare the quality of a player with its price. But, you must always keep in mind that these DVD players will never be as good as LCD TVs are. You must still spend some time in finding a player offering better picture quality. Though you may have to spend a little bit extra but you must not stay away from doing so to get better picture quality.

4. Sound should also be considered at the time of buying DVD players. Here, you must keep in mind that portable players which come with integrated speakers are not impressive in terms of sound. That's the point where you will have to consider the option of component system where different types of speakers can be used to produce high quality sound.

By keeping these crucial points in mind, your dream of having a perfect DVD player will turn into reality. So, always take these points into consideration and be a smart shopper.

Regentrange.co.uk is a place where you can find car DVD players according to your needs and requirements. Not only can you get DVD players but you can also find an exquisite range of CD players along with CCTV cameras, parking sensors, car speakers, and more.

An Insight Into the World of Automobilia

Automobilia is a vast global market catering for the most avid and discerning collector with many collectors pursuing individual items to add to their own private collections. Strangely enough the market is actually very niche and quite small in comparison to other memorabilia pursuits. However it has one common thread - passion - coupled with an in-depth, educated knowledge of the subject matter. Most collectors know their chosen subject inside out where as they are major global suppliers to the discerning collector. They have to have an in-depth knowledge of all subject matter to allow them to spot that bargain and to confidently guide the novice enthusiast. Most Automobilia collectors are walking encyclopedias with expert working knowledge to assist the novice collector and enthusiast.

For sure, a collector will invest, he will not buy, there is a big difference. Especially relevant, in the current global fiscal meltdown we are experiencing, is the return to 'tangible assets'. Money and interest are not performing presently. Gold has risen and so too has Automobilia. Collectors will regularly check the auction results and other data sources for further 'assets' to adorn their collections. It is evident that the collection of Automobilia, across the board, has risen significantly which itself makes for a secure asset.

When collectors are hunting for their next acquisition, condition is of paramount significance together with providence. If you are lucky a sound investor will probably know the correct market value for an item at any one given time and if it's rare or impossible to find when they fortuitously stumble across an item of merit they will usually pay a premium for it. To use one of the industries well known sayings "if it's good - it's gone". How many times have you been to a show and spotted something, pondered on it for a while and returned to find that it has been sold? Be warned. Back your judgment.

An example of such an opportunity is a rare item I stumbled upon once. I by chance fell upon Prince Bira's racing goggles together with authentic providence. I knew instantly that except perhaps for a Motor Sport Museum, I would be hard pushed to find another pair like these anywhere else in the world. I knew that this item would make for a perfect gift to a collector of Bira memorabilia. I purchased them on the spot.

Here's another tip too. At auctions, and be warned they are not for amateurs or the faint hearted, it's a gladiators arena in there. You may see 5 boxes of books and your only interested in say 20 items. Best approach to these is to cost them out and place a bid. Take the books relevant to you out and keep them, then put the remaining books into a different auction and get some money back on your original stake. A result, but you have to know what your doing. Confidence is King.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people have such diverse interests in Automobilia. They collect the most obscure of items. So it proves that there's always a collector out there for some kit you would normally dismiss. As I say, it is a very wide and diverse subject matter.

A word of caution though. In this modern World that we live in, be warned, the market is flooded with fake items and they are often of very good quality. You really have to know your subject to ensure you're not buying a two week old item passing off as a pucker 1920's item. That's why it's strongly advisable to deal with a quality supplier like myself. As a rule I never will purchase fakes and sell them on our site. We only deal in the genuine article.

So there you have it, Automobilia is a wide, varied and fascinating past-time. A final thought to ponder though, all genuine Automobilia and motor sport memorabilia of the past is pre-determined by supply, i.e. a petrol can made in the 1930's. There were only so many made so it's supply and demand. Soon we will not even be able to run our vintage cars as there will be no petrol and in the year 3000, today's modern car, vulgar as they are, will be the collectible memorabilia of the future.

Good hunting to you all.

Seventh Generation Honda Accord (2003-2007)

The seventh generation continued the Honda company's earlier plan of a four year generation cycle, which was not followed in the prior generation. In America it grew again. The sedan and the coupe were the basic models as before, but the coupe was no longer exported to either Europe or Japan under the Accord name.

The North American car received more refinement with chrome interior accents and higher grade interior materials. The trim lines remained the same. A new 4-cylinder engine was introduced while the V6 remained the same, but increased to 240 hp based on modifications to the intake and exhaust systems. The U.S. model was now larger with more interior room and weighed more than its international counterparts. A new "enthusiast" version was introduced with a sports suspension and the Acura CL's 6-speed manual transmission to the V6 Coupe.

In 2003 the company's GPS assisted Navigation system was made an option on all Accord trim lines.

In 2004 was the announcement that a hybrid version called the Accord Hybrid would be available in 2005. Also in 2004 XM Satellite radio became available as a factory installed option. In 2005 various updates were made including standard side curtain and front seat side impact airbags, new wheel designs and modified tail lights.

2006 saw the Accord 30th anniversary. Many changes were introduced in this generation; in fact enough that some people said this was a 7.5 generation car. Major changes included new rear end styling for the sedan, LED tail lights, heated side mirrors for some models and daytime running lights. The V6 models now offered Electronic Stability Control and Brake assist for the first time. The wheels were now 17" as standard, and the interior received some upgrades. The V6 power was increased to 244 hp, while the 4-cylinder model increased to 166 hp.

In 2007 the color "Cool Blue Metallic" was announced for the sedan. It was available earlier on the coupe.

Eighth Generation Honda Accord (2008-Present)

2008 saw the dropping of the Hybrid and the announcement of a 2009 Accord diesel version which was unveiled at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. Honda felt their "hybrid system works better on smaller cars". The new diesel version should offer better fuel economy than the gasoline versions and is 50-state emission compliant. Time will tell how well it will sell.

The V6 models offer better fuel efficiency due to Honda's Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system, which shuts off 2 or 3 of the cylinders depending on the type of driving being done. The V6 coupe with the 6-speed manual transmission does not currently offer the VCM system. The 2008 model year also dropped the 6-speed manual transmission from the sedan version.

Safety again played a large role with the Accord introducing standard traction control, vehicle stability assist and active front head restraints for all models. The new safety features helped the Accord receive perfect crash test scores and receiving a "Top Safety Pick" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is an honor most of the competition have not received. Once again the 2008 model has grown in size. This time by 4 inches in length and 3 inches in width. An sedan without moon roof is now considered a full-size car by the EPA standard. With the moon roof the car is considered a mid-size car. The coupe remains classified as a compact car.

After it's introduction in September of 2007 the Accord gathered some mixed reactions. MotorTrend felt the car was too heavy, and not as nimble as the previous models. The Accord did not show up well against the Chevrolet Malibu in their 2008 Car of the Year completion. However the opposite occurred with Car and Driver. They placed the 2008 model first in a comparison test against the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, and the Dodge Avenger.

We all know that it is important to keep our car clean on both the inside and out - especially during the winter months where salt from icy roads and "dirty snow" seem to be plastered all over our vehicles. Some prefer to pull the car onto the front lawn and take care of the dirty job themselves. Others prefer to run on over to the car wash, drive in one end and come out the other with a sparkling clean car.

But how exactly does this process work?

There are several types of car washes. The first being a "self serve" where it is an open bay that the car sits inside. These have become increasingly popular and what it basically does is give you access to all the tools necessary to get your own car clean. Generally there are pressure sprayers and some sort of foaming brush to really get the gunk off. These are typically coin operated systems that let you make your own settings. If your car just needs a rinse, then you can set it to just that. If it's a more in depth job needing to take place, soaps and sometimes waxes can be added. If the car doesn't get its final rinse before the time runs out, you'll need to drop in a few more coins for some extra water.

The next type of car wash would be the "rollover". These are the systems you would see in the parking lots of gas stations. You pay for they type of wash you want and then slowly drive your car into the bay until your are positioned accurately. The washing equipment then begins to roll over your car. This equipment is on a track and each brush performs a specific function like soaping or rinsing with every pass.

For a bit more pampering for your car, you can turn to full service shops. While the car still travels through a tunnel, it is done so on more of a conveyer belt type system. Generally you are not in the car at this point, an attendant has taken it for you while you wait in the waiting area. The benefit of this type of full service is your exterior as well as your interior get cleaned. The interior is vacuumed out by attendants and afterward, usually hand dried.

At a detail shop, in addition to the car wash and interior cleaning, they can offer fixes from small scratches and chrome brightening. If you need your carpets inside steam cleaned, this is the place to do it. More detailed waxing and polish of the car are taken care at these types of places.

Some required that the car with advertisement be driven a certain amount of miles per month however this distance is about the average that a person drives, so no extra driving would be required. Also parking the car must always be in site with a lot of people. These are the main requirements and are easily met so that you can make free cash with car advertising.

Does Water4gas Work? - Is Ozzie Freedom Water4gas a Scam?

Today, with more and more people being aware of the environment and more readily acceptable to new alternative energy sources, they are looking for ways to power their cars without the need for gasoline. And it is indeed possible today to run cars on water.

Ozzie Freedom Water4gas is one such guide that can teach you how to convert your car to run on water and he claims the materials needed are readily available and just about anyone can do it without the need for an engineering degree. So does Water4gas work?

Water4gas is one of those simple easily usable fuels with readily installable fuel convertible engines available in the market it has taken a up right notch in its application but the question is does it really work?

So here is a simple sequence of steps that explain the actual procedure in which it works.

The entire process is based on a simple quart sized container of volume 950 mm which is installed into the engine somewhere near the engine and is filled with normal water and some additional supplements of baking soda and this whole set derives electrical energy from the engine which is a mere 12 volts only.

Now due to electrolysis, the water molecules are split up into HHO gas which is a mixture of 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygen components which when burnt can act as an efficient fuel and has the capability of burning any thing that it comes into contact with its melting point.

Another advantage is that since almost 99% of the fuel that is being used is being burned efficiently, the amount of reside is very less in fact negligible.

Well coming back to the process, the HHO gas is sent into the carburetor where the electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy.

The actual work detail instructions are provided in the guide and they have been many success stories. If you visit their website, you can find many people who have successfully converted their car to run on water. If you have any doubts, it is best to contact them whether your car model is suitable for this.

Hydrogen Fuel Conversion Systems

Hydrogen fuel conversion systems have become quite standardised over the past 18 to 24 months. Most home produced kits are very similar, although it is still worth making sure you get one of the better manuals to guide you through the process.

Man has reached the moon and achieved so many other remarkable technological feats, yet we still struggle to find practical renewable energy solutions. But there is at least some good news in the automotive industry.

As it stands at present, over a quarter million American car owners have employed hydrogen fuel conversion systems in their vehicles. A minuscule percentage has bought a pre-built kit costing upwards of $5,000. Most have followed an instruction manual and done it themselves for $140 or employed a mechanic for an additional $120 or so.

If you get the tuning right, you can save up to 50% on gasoline. The average saving is probably in the region of 20% to 30%. Of course it depends on the fuel consumption and how often you use your vehicle, but for many folk savings from $250 to $700 a month are not uncommon.

How Hydrogen Fuel Conversion Systems Work

The chemistry of hydrogen production is not terribly complicated. Here we are talking about production of hydrogen (or, more precisely, HHO gas) on an as-required basis, rather than tanks of hydrogen being stored on board a vehicle. By the way, this is a totally safe way of part-powering a car; the hydrogen is used as soon as it is produced.

With the aid of an instruction manual you, or your mechanic, can build the following basic hydrogen fuel conversion system.

You will need a casing to hold about a quart of water. It needs to be resistent to high temperatures. CPVC tubes are readily available from a plumbing or hardware store and are ideal material. Within the casing an electrode is placed; this can be stainless steel, platinum or other suitable metal. You now have a hydrogen, or hho, generator. An electric current from the vehicle's battery is passed through the water and water forms HHO on contact with the electrode. Hydrogen, or hydroxy gas, bubbles to the surface and is then drawn off via a bubbler to the engine for use as combustible fuel. It burns up to four times more efficiently than gasoline or diesel. It makes sense to create a simple cradle to hold the hydrogen fuel generator in place. It can then be easily dismounted for periodic cleaning.

A hydrogen fuel conversion system will also need an electronic control unit. This connects the vehicle's ignition to the battery and generator and earths the entire system. It is incredibly simple to make or cheap to buy off the shelf. It is useful to include a control over the amperage passing through the water. It allows you to adjust to 13 amps every so often. Most folk mount it discreetly under the dashboard, but it is all a matter of personal choice.

Apart from some cheap electrical wire, a vaporiser and some hose, that is pretty much all there is to hydrogen fuel conversion systems.

How to Advertise and Sell Your Car - Top Tips

When the time comes to part with a set of wheels, it's important to organise an efficient sale which means you get value while letting it go for a price which will attract customers and get them a reasonable deal in the process. People often assume an outlay will be involved, but there are ways to attract interest in your vehicle for free. A few simple hints and tips can also make your car stand out, catching the eye of any potential purchasers.

Do your homework

To start with, have a look around at classified car adverts from a range of sources, paying particular attention to vehicles which are of the same make and age as your own. The web can provide an excellent resource for car related issues - from finding car insurance cover to comparing vehicle prices - it can give you a huge database of information at your fingertips. Using a range of different media, you should be able to get a good idea of the going market rate for what you own. Mileage is also crucial, as a car which is three or four years old could be more expensive than one which is only a couple of years old if it has a very low mileage. Look in the local press and pay particular attention to the car classifieds, and try the newspaper's online listings as well. There also a wide range of listings magazines and online locations like Auto Trader to compare prices.

Think about taking a trip to one or two of your local supermarkets. Many of them run public notice boards which allow you to put up a sale notice for nothing. You can normally write your advert on a card which will be on the board for all to see for a set period of time, all you have to do is write your note and include your contact details. This could be an effective and simple way of reaching a large number of potential buyers for free.

If this fails to deliver results, remember your car itself can be turned into a walking advert. Write or print your own 'for sale' sign giving the car's details, asking price and your contact number and stick it in the rear or rear side windows, remembering not to put them somewhere where they will obscure your view if you're driving it. A sign in a car window sticks out in public car parks, and anyone who is in the market for a new vehicle is likely to at least take a quick look. Think about where you live as well, if you live on a main road which has a lot of passing motorists and pedestrians, park your car in a safe spot, again with a visible sign on it. Hey presto, you have another advert for free with a large potential audience.

Clean and tidy

Your car's appearance is also important. If it's constantly dirty and messy, it's unlikely to look too appealing to any potential buyers. Give it a good all round clean inside and out. Hoover the upholstery and consider getting it waxed too for an extra high-visibility finish. An old car can look like new with a few simple cleaning touches. Try and keep this level of appearance up while it is advertised so you are prepared for any potential buyer to view it at short notice.

If you choose to advertise in the local press or online, price your car sensibly - too high and it will attract no interest whatsoever, too low and some people may even be suspicious, assuming it has something wrong with it. Ensure you have all the right documentation in place like the logbook, and as full a service history as you can manage, with all the invoices and receipts for any work you have had done on it, plus the last MOT certificate. Incomplete paperwork can make buyers wary and question why there are things missing.

Car Engine Maintenance - Why You Must Pretend to Be Knowledgeable About Your Car's Engine

Fortunately you do not have to know a lot about your car in order to be able to perform the needed maintenance. Your mechanic can do the job for you but it is better to at least look informed so you won't be scammed.

Watch out for cheats! Convince yourself that no one is going to watch out for you. The world has a lot of nice people in it but how many times have you walked away from the workshop wondering if the job was properly done?

There are times when they scam you, have no doubt about it. Many people are scammed because they do not know anything about car engine maintenance or are perceived by the mechanic that they are so.

In reality most men do not know much about car engine maintenance but they pretend to know. This is not surprising since our society dictates that men should be more technical then women and should know a lot about car' engines. So many men try to conform to this norm and pretend to be knowledgeable about car engine maintenance.

You must try to conform with this norm too when approaching a mechanic!

An ignorant customer is the most vulnerable person in their eyes. Do not leave yourself at another's mercy and do not tempt anyone to cheat you. A way around appearing clueless is to be the jack of all trades. Even if you can bluff some knowledge you will earn respect that would otherwise be missing.

For more concrete measures, if you think the workshop can cheat you by not replacing the part you are paying for, try marking it discretely so you can check later if the part has been really replaced or just been cleaned and polished. This of course will tell you where not to go for repairs the next time you need any service.

Bubble Cars - Why They Were So Popular

Think of the names Messerschmitt and Heinkel, and most people over the age of fifty will think of German plane makers. Think of BMW and most of us conjure up ideas of quite expensive luxury cars.

But, many might not realise that one thing they all have in common is they all were involved in some way or other in building small, economic cars, often referred to as 'bubble cars' back in the 1950's and 60's.

Bubble cars were, in the main, 3-wheeler cars, with the 3rd wheel at the rear. Some models had four wheels, the two at the rear very close together. The advantage of only having three wheels was that in some countries, the UK for instance, the law at the time required that someone with only a motorcycle licence could legally drive a 3-wheeler (as long as it didn't have a reverse gear with it). Why that was the law has never really been fathomed out, since the principles involved in driving a 3-wheel car are very similar to those of driving a 4-wheel car, rather than a motorcycle.

The steering wheels were attached to the opening front doors. As the door was opened the steering wheel moved with it, enabling the driver and any passengers to get in.

Also, road tax was much cheaper for a 3-wheeler than a conventional car, which again appealed to the more thrifty drivers.

People wanted cars which were cheap to buy, and economical to run, and the 'bubble car' fitted the bill perfectly, though there were limitations due to their small size.

Although the microcars were built at various times in a number of countries around the world, many were manufactured in Germany. One type which was made in the UK was the Isetta. The Isetta started life in Italy back in the early 1950`s. By today`s standards the engine was tiny, just 236 cc, and was in fact a two cylinder two-stroke motorcycle engine.

In Germany BMW manufactured the Isetta using a BMW one-cylinder, four-stroke, 247 cc motorcycle engine. It boasted the BMW Badge, and went into production in the mid-1950`s.

In Britain the Isetta was eventually made using just one wheel at the back, and without reverse gear, so that it would have a wider appeal for drivers with just motorcycle licences.

Although most bubble cars were popular up until the early 1960`s the time came when they lost their appeal.

Transport laws changed which made it so that drivers needed a full motorcar licence, and the road tax for 3-wheelers increased to make them more in line with 4-wheel cars.

Small cars such as the Mini became very popular. They had more room, carried more passengers, and were better designed from a safety angle.

The only surviving 3-wheel car to make it in to the 1990's was the Reliant Robyn, built in the Midlands of England. The Reliants had their single wheel at the front of the car, unlike bubble cars. Another popular car with a similar design-though using a motorcycle engine-was the Bond car, which was built into the 1960`s when production ceased.

With lower demand combined with increasing costs even the Reliant, which was luxurious compared to the bubble car, could no longer compete with the more conventional 4-wheel cars.

Why Buy a Used Car in a Recession?

As the global economic meltdown continues to cause fear, stress, and anxiety among people, there are some golden opportunities out there that you can really take advantage of. For instance, as more and more people are trying to unload whatever they can, you can consider investing little money in real estate, stocks, or purchasing big ticket items like cars. When it comes to buying a car, it is always better to go for a used car.

Following are some reasons why you should buy a used car rather than a new one during recession:

1) In a recession, when every dollar saved can make a lot of difference, buying a used car can help you save thousands of dollars. As most of the people are now trying to sell their cars to make money, there is a wide variety of used cars available in the market at very less costs. If you get a $15,000 car for just $10,000, do not get surprised. That is the trend in the market today.

2) It is more than obvious that when you buy a used car during recession, you would opt for a car loan. The good news is the interest rates charged on used car loans now-a-days are quite low as compared to the rates that were offered a few years back when the world economy was stable and healthy.

3) Third, as sellers are desperate to make some money for their urgent financial needs by selling their cars, you tend to get a greater negotiating power. If you show some interest in buying the car, you can always work out a better deal and pay a lower price than what was offered to you.

Thus, if you try to be optimistic, recession is not that bad. If, on one hand, it is causing stress and financial encumbrances, it is also offering great opportunities on the other. So, take advantage of the opportunity and contact the nearest used car dealer before it is too late!

Find the contact details of the best Used Car Dealers in your locality in our extensive online Car Dealerships Directory, featuring contact details of over 1000 car dealers across 500 cities of the United States.

Best Custom Rims

Custom rims are car tire accessories for cars or truck. It can add more appeal to your wheels. These custom rims may be hard to find but if you are very eager to have one, we will give you tips on where to go. These custom rims can give your vehicle a special look. It can also give a new personality to your vehicle. Some people call the custom rim as a wheel rim.

Custom rims come in many types. There are spinning rims, chrome rims, racing rims, custom rims and truck rims.

These types usually vary in prices, design, weight, and size and installation option. The rims usually come in a lighter weight. The lighter the weight of the rim, the more improved general road performance your car will likely have.

Most popular rims include wire-spoke wheels, pressed steel and the light-alloy casting wheels.

The pressed steel rims are very light but strong. They are taut and damage resistant. These kinds of rims need zero maintenance. But although this may be a good rim, it still has its drawbacks. It weighs slightly heavy than alloy wheels.

The wire type of wheel is the oldest type of rim available today. This is a light rim but still strong and sturdy. Wire types are made to survive the car's weight. This can also survive the force of braking, acceleration and turning. These spokes are made of steel. They are stronger in tension compared to compression.

Light alloy casting wheel is another type of rim. Alloys are lighter than any other types of rim. This is the best option for driving especially in mountains. This is also best in the city area where there is traffic congestion. There are alloy wheels that are made to encourage cool airflow in the brakes to avoid overheating.

As you can see, there are many kinds of both wheels and rims that are available in the market. Before you choose the right rim, consider the type of your vehicle. See to it that the rim you choose will perfectly fit your car. You actually have a broad range of options. First, you can choose spoke alloy wheels or superior chrome spinning wheels. These superior chrome spinning wheels are the latest fads. You also have to consider the following options to consider before choosing the right rim for your vehicle:

Any buyer will definitely look into the performance of a custom rim. But aside from this, appearance is also a significant factor that should be taken into equal consideration. The physical looks of the rims should blend well to the overall appearance of your car. Otherwise, no matter how beautiful the car and the rim are separately, they would just cancel each other out if they are not complementing well.

The style can give your vehicle a sporty look. If you install a larger wheel and also larger rim, you can have a sportier vehicle. The wheel that you are going to choose should match the bolt pattern that your vehicle has.

The price is another thing to consider. This plays a significant role when deciding for your rim. You may choose the lower priced rims but remember to also choose the right quality. Because you are just wasting your time when you buy low priced rims that have low quality. The stylish and trendy rims that are in good quality usually have a higher cost.

When buying, you can always ask for a trial fit on your wheels, to see how it will look like when installed. Make sure you are fully satisfied with the appearance and performance before finally pulling out your wallet.

New Car Prices

The most important part of buying a car for most people is the price. How do you know if you can afford to pay new cars prices? The answer is, of course, how much a car will cost you. And that begs some other important questions, like...

Where is new car invoice pricing available?

Keep in mind that prices such as MSRP (Manufacturers Suggest Retail Price), invoice price, and dealer cost don't vary from day to day. When buying a new car, the only two things that can change are the willingness of the dealer to sell at a lower price (to meet quotas) or if the manufacturers increase the money available in rebates (or some other dealer incentive).

There are also trends in the car industry that are normally true. Knowing these can help you save money alone: One of the more recent trends is that mid-month the manufacturers have increased rebates, bonus money and other dealer incentives. So the best time to buy a car tends to be from the 16th to 31st of any given month.

New cars prices tend to be lower later in the year as well:

With new vehicles, the time the manufacturers give the highest rebates and dealer money is normally around the spring auto show (March or April) or at the end of the model year (August or September). The only real drawback to buying in August or September is that you might not have good selection on the vehicle you're looking for because it is so late in the year. Also keep in mind that sales of new cars - as well as used cars - can vary due to the economy, the market, and even the weather.

Saturday mornings are good for getting lower new car pricing

September and October are the usual times that new car models arrive, however new models are starting to be released year-round. Saturday mornings are generally good because a dealership is trying to create some momentum going into the weekend. Also, when the end of the month is coming up, car dealers will want to boost sales figures for monthly reports, so good new car prices may be found then as well.

Be in charge of the negotiating

But regardless of whether you decide to buy or lease your next car, getting a monthly payment that will fit into your budget is a crucial.. How much should this be? A rule of thumb is your total monthly car payments shouldn't exceed 20 percent of your monthly take-home pay. Take the time to run the numbers before you go car shopping and take them along as a reminder of what you can afford. It will also help you stay in control of the negotiation with the car dealer, because you'll have a hard limit you're negotiating from. New car prices don't have to scare you away; do your homework first.

The New Volkswagen Golf MkVI - Supercharged, Turbocharged and Ready to Roll

t is almost impossible to imagine the world without certain things in it. Try to imagine a world when the Rolling Stones aren't embarking on another world tour despite having the combined age of the Methuselah Tree, or a year without a Simon Cowell produced talent show on television. It's impossible isn't it? Certain objects/people/events are ingrained on our national conscience and if you were to take them away, everything would just seem...well...strange I guess. This is exactly how I feel about the Volkswagen Golf.

I have a long history with the VW Golf, as my Grandfather owner one in my formative years and ferried me and my brother around in it quite a lot. I have very fond memories of this car which have remained with me right into my adulthood. On the surface though, the VW Golf isn't exactly breathtaking, it's boxy, cumbersome and not to mention quite a bit more expensive than most of its competition. So exactly where the does this abiding love affair with the VW Golf stem from and how has it endured for so long?

It was over 35 years ago when the Volkswagen Golf first made its appearance and it has been a consistently popular seller ever since. The evolution of the VW Golf has been a joy to witness over the decades, as the car has gone from looking like it was designed by an artistically-challenged child, to the sleek, rounded and aesthetically pleasing models we see today. Its popularity stems from its honesty and it reserve; two traits the British public seem to lap up in their people and consumer products. The VW Golf doesn't try to be flashy, or gimmick-ridden, but it does everything it's supposed to with elegance and panache. Considering it is a German car, it is very British.

The Brand New Volkswagen Golf Mark VI comes with a choice of four petrol engines and three diesel engines. My personal pick of the bunch is the twin-charged 1.4Litre Petrol which produces 160Bhp which is phenomenal for a car of this size. Driving this car is unlike the experience of the previous model Golf (the Mark V), as it adds an element that its predecessor was lacking slightly; excitement. Other than the GTi models, the Golf has never been considered an exciting drive. It has been described as safe, comfortable, economic and ecological but never exciting. The supercharged and turbocharged 1.4 litre engine feels raw, edgy and above all, powerful. All of a sudden the VW Golf seems al lot less British after all.

Essentially, the Volkswagen Golf Mk VI has retained everything that the consuming public loved about the car since its initial inception, but they have been treated to a few added extras now. The Golf is still safe, comfortable, economical and ecological, but now it has the capability to force your head back into the headrest and leave you with a silly schoolboy grin on your face. Although the Golf has evolved into the consummate city car, if you take the new Golf out onto country lanes, you will see why I can say with confidence that this is the most impressive the Golf has ever been.

Things to Bear in Mind When Dealing With a Car Dealer

If you are planning to buy a car, it is advisable to go for a used car instead of a new one. Buying a used car can help you save thousands of dollars. However, buying a used car involves many risks as well. Therefore, before getting in touch with a used car dealer, make sure you know how to deal with him. If you fail to negotiate well with the dealer, you may end up with a bad deal that you might regret later.

Following are certain things that you should bear in mind when dealing with a second-hand car dealer:

1) Before you contact the car dealer, make a list of all the cars available in the market and shortlist a few that you wish to consider for a purchase. Also, search online and ask friends and relatives to have an approximate idea of the price of the cars you have short listed. This will help you negotiate with the dealer in a better way.

2) When looking for brands of car manufacturers, always go for the well established and reputed ones. It is in your own favor to select a car model that has been manufactured in your own country. Imported and exotic cars that are manufactured outside the country are difficult to maintain as their spare parts are not easily available.

3) Also, when selecting a brand, make sure it has its service offices and authorized dealers in your area. This will help you get easy and quick assistance whenever required.

4) Also ensure that the car dealer you are dealing with is registered. Although unverified car dealers also offer irresistible offers, it is not worth taking the risk of dealing with them. You can check the credibility of the car dealer in the consumer welfare government offices.

5) When dealing with the car dealer, also make sure all your documents and paperwork is reviewed by your personal legal advisor. Car Test Drives Down

As the national news reports that the sales of new cars is down by nearly 60% compared to the same month last year, this is also confirmed by car retailers who states the number of test drives is down. The message is clear, not only are sales down but there does not seem to any future planning to eventually buy a new car, which is what the numbers of test drives equate to.

The purchase of a car is not an immediate one; it tends to start with car reviews and checking out the price guides. Motoring programmes such as 5th Gear and Top gear contribute to the decision process, together with magazines and newspapers. But the next stage of buying a new car or a used one tends to be calculated with the quantities of test drives. It is not apparent that a test drive will involve an immediate sale as there tends to be other factors involved than just the price of the vehicle, such as part exchange value and finance deals.

Getting the consumer into your make of car in the form of a test drive is the best way to convert a sale and sow the seed of desire, but normally the customers will go hone to decide whether it is for them, or even go on several test drives. It seems that the popularity of the car is still there based on viewing figures of motoring magazines but taking that second step to viewing and test driving a vehicle still seems a step too far at this pint of the credit crunch.

However when you start looking at the used car market, especially smaller engined vehicles that do a high miles to the gallon, there is a different story. Certain vehicles are already in short supply, proving the consumers still need or want a different car, just do not want to suffer the depreciation of a new one. To prove this there are certain internet based "we buy your car" type business popping up everywhere and advertising on TV. This is because the new car market is not providing good trade-ins for the used market and so they are going direct to the public to buy the cars, then to be resold to the trade.

The question is how long this can be sustained, where there is a great demand for used cars, but very few people buying new cars? This becomes more apparent when you consider that up to 50% of new cars can be attributed to the car lease market. The first indication of any improvement to the new car sale market will probably come in an increased demand for test drives of new models not yet on the used car market, especially if these models have improved fuel efficiency, so the saving in fuel can outweigh or match the depreciation loss of that new car.

There are arguments that some models can be cheaper to buy new, if the owner does a high mileage, if the model is considerably cheaper to run. Let's hope the upturn comes soon.
