MG T Types

Later replaced by the popular MGA, the T series of cars by MG were manufactured for nineteen years, from nineteen thirty six to nineteen fifty five. The convertible sporting car series was composed of the TF and TF 1500, TD, TC, TB and TA, listed from newest to oldest.

The first variation within the T series was the TA, produced between nineteen thirty six and nineteen thirty nine. The engine had a capacity of one point three litre, and produced fifty horse power. Three thousand units were produced, selling for two hundred and two pounds each. Three body types were produced; the airline coupe, the Tickford drophead, and the roadster.

The second variation, the TB, was produced between nineteen thirty nine and nineteen forty. The one point two litre TB had a smaller but more innovative XPAG engine, producing fifty four horse power. Three hundred and seventy nine units were made in total, with two body styles available; the roadster and the Tickford drophead.

The TC was released in nineteen forty five and was the first MG car after the war. The production ran for five, until nineteen fifty, with a total of ten thousand cars produced, each selling on the market for five hundred and twenty seven pounds. This T series variation was exported to the United States, although the car was only manufactured with right hand drive specifications. Only one body type was produced, the roadster.

The MG TD was only manufactured for three years, between nineteen fifty and nineteen fifty three, although an impressive thirty thousand units were produced. Bumpers were fitted to the car as standard, and model was equipped with front independent suspension. A Mk2 model was produced alongside the TD, which had a higher tuned engine and greater power output.

A slightly updated MG TD was released in nineteen fifty three, to bridge the gap until the MGA was given the green light for production. Nineteen fifty four saw the increase of engine capacity, thus leading to the TF 1500. Production finished in nineteen fifty five, with close to ten thousand units manufactured.
